Maggie's Pancake Day
Ten years, thousands of visits and one special Eastbourne resident – Pentlow Community Care helped Maggie Huggett celebrate a decade of their home help with the flip of a pancake on Tuesday.
Maggie invited carer Julie McCormick in to mark the occasion. Maggie said: “I have been with Pentlow Community Care for ten years, since I was discharged from hospital. Pentlow has been my lifeline. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to cope.”
Like many Pentlow Community Care clients, Maggie’s care ranges from domestic to personal. A range of help is on offer, from freshly made meals served hot on a plate to help with the weekly shop.
Pentlow Community Care is based in High Street, Eastbourne Old Town, and is part of Canford Healthcare which includes Pentlow Nursing Home in Summerdown Road and Inglewood Nursing Home in Nevill Avenue, Hampden Park. Canford includes a Meal Delivery Service and Training Division.

To me it was quite evident that regardless of the role, whether it might be nursing, caring, catering, office, housekeeping, maintenance or grounds, (my apologies for those I may not have included), everyone was totally committed and dedicated to caring not only for the residents but the relatives as well.
